Sebuah Melodi

Dan dalam seluruh nada serta melodi yang bergaung ini
Kutumpahkan semua perasaanku
Pengharapanku
Kenangan atas dirimu--
Senyummu; tangismu; candamu
--yang menghantuiku
Dan mengiringi lelapku di malam hari
Petikan gitar, denting piano ini perlambang
Genggaman hangatmu yang menangkupi tanganku
Masih terasa membayangi memoriku
Walau kita tahu besok tiada terbayang lagi
Diri ini di sampingmu
Tapi ku tahu kau selalu bersamaku
Dan aku denganmu
Tiada yang dapat pisahkan kita
Bukan ruang
Bukan waktu
Bukan juga nasib buruk
Terlepas dari semua itu
Ku 'kan selalu untukmu
Hati kita selalu bersama
Selamanya

Forever?

The pale moonlight adorns his face, and I can't help but wonder: how big of a kindness had I made in my past lifes, that I could have him here with me, at this moment.
I was never one to look forward to the future, and foresee what might happen between us. Why do people dare to wonder? Why don't they just enjoy this moment, and rejoice it before it passes away? Beauty and any good things never last forever in this realm we call Earth. At some point, they'll break or bend or simply just disappear. That is just how cruel life is. One second, you think everything is just perfect the way you want it to be, then suddenly your world crumbles to dust. Yet, as confusing as it can be, life also keeps on giving you the most wonderful thing you can't even think about. Like this young man, beside me. And that makes me afraid to wonder, when will this end?
"What are you thinking about?" His voice drags me back to reality, and I give him my most assuring smile.
"Nothing. Just wishing that we could be trapped in this moment forever--just the two of us on the rooftop, looking at the twinkling stars."
To my surprise, he laughs brightly. I couldn't help myself but smile, too. Then, what he said next makes me realize that he hides more wisdom in him than he could ever show: "Well, if that happens, then other great moments won't be coming to us, right? Who knows? Maybe the next time you wonder about something like that is when we get married, or when we're in our 60s and there was just the two of us in a wonderful countryhouse, having all the peace the world could give to us?"
